25.07.2019

Igor Mazepa, CEO of Concorde Capital investment company, says the international investors could react positively to Ukraine’s parliamentary elections results

The international markets have reacted positively to the parliamentary elections results – comments Igor Mazepa reaction of the international markets to the elections to Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine held on 21 July, 2019.

Recently all Ukraine’s eurobonds have grown in price. The most growth was demonstrated by GDP warrants, which gained 3.3% to their historical maximum. It appears that expectations of economic growth and hryvnia strengthening have risen among international community.

Western investors like the idea of consolidating power in a single pair of hands – supposes Igor Mazepa. At minimum, it means the end of political instability in Ukraine. It also offers a chance for fast pro-Western reforms. The risk of usurping power doesn’t frighten foreign investors. For Western countries, a situation in which one political force forms the government looks familiar and acceptable.

Obviously, the persona of the next prime minister is the first thing that international investors and institutions will focus their attention on. The situation surrounding PrivatBank also could be definitive for the future investment climate and Ukraine’s relations with international lenders, including IMF.

This view was expressed by Igor Mazepa, the CEO of the Concorde Capital investment company commenting on the reaction of the international investors and markets to the results of the parliamentary elections.
